Bandhej Sarees

Derived from the word ‘Bandhan’ which means tying up, Bandhani or Bandhej is an ancient art of tie and dye practiced mainly in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The oldest form of Tie and Dye that was started some 5000 years back, Bandhani sarees are made in different places of Rajasthan. The technique involving dyeing a fabric which is tied tightly with a thread at several points produces a variety of patterns like Leheriya , Mothra, Ekdali and Shikari depending on the manner in which the cloth is tied resulting into a variety of symbols including, dots, squares, waves and strips. Bandhej sarees come in dark vibrant colors making them perfect for making a style statement, yet keeping it subtle.
